A new record of 372 baskets was set for the Kettering College nursing students’ Easter Basket service project.

Thank you to everyone who donated. You made it possible to share the joy of Easter to eight different agencies. Employees on several campuses, the hospital chaplains, Kettering College, and the Kettering Adventist Church donated the supplies and baskets.

The agencies and the number of baskets they received are:

  • KBMC – 34 baskets
  • St Vincent’s – 65 baskets
  • Erma’s Place – 65 baskets
  • YWCA – 31 baskets
  • Artemis House – 47 baskets
  • House of Bread – 30 baskets
  • Day Break Shelter – 34 baskets
  • St Vincent’s Support House – 66 baskets (new this year)

The agencies were also received party supplies and mothers received 27 hygiene packs.

The Easter basket project began 12 years ago with a few chaplains and nurses who saw a way to brighten the lives of the children hospitalized at the Kettering Behavioral Medicine facility. One of those nurses also taught Kettering College nursing students. When the students learned about this, they saw it as a worthy service project which they embraced and expanded to include several battered women’s shelters.
