Becky’s Beat: A Letter from the President

Read Time: 1 min

Becky Lewis, 2014I am so proud of Southview! We are truly blessed to have such an awesome team! God calls us all to be leaders–leaders who are imperfect, unsure of ourselves, untrained perhaps, fearing failure certainly, and sometimes unable to understand why God has called us to lead.

You see, leadership is not something that is not only done by people in high places, like Washington, D.C. or Ridgeleigh Terrace. It is done by people like you in all kinds of roles: at the bedside of a patient in pain, in the lab, Radiology, Respiratory, Yankee PT, Emergency Room, Mother Baby, Central Sterile, Surgery, Registration, Environmental Services or Facilities. Wherever you are called to work, you are also called to lead.

None of us are perfect. Southview is not perfect, but we cannot wait to be perfect. As the Bible says, “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” We can’t wait for conditions to be perfect before trusting God’s direction. Accept the challenge and respond to your call to leadership where you are.

I am glad you are leading at Southview. I trust each and every one of you to ask yourself this question before making decisions: “What is best for the patient?” or “What would Jesus want me to do?” None of us can do it alone. It truly takes this Southview village to care for the patients who entrust themselves to us.

Thank you for accepting the sacred challenge!  Thank you for living our mission and values everyday, both at work and out in the community. You are Southview’s leaders wherever you are!
