Read Time: 2 mins

Congratulations to Brita Brown, who was named Sycamore Medical Center’s September Employee of the Month. Brita works in the Kettering Breast Evaluation Center at the hospital.

The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Brita was nominated by multiple patients, and you can read the nomination stories below:

“The minute Brita started helping me, she put me at ease. She is a caring, compassionate, and very professional person. She explained everything to me and put me at ease. In my opinion, she is definitely a keeper.”

“Brita made me feel so comfortable, and I was very nervous. I was here for a follow-up and was so pleased to have someone like Brita who made small talk during the whole procedure. It made me comfortable and the procedure was over before I knew it. Thank you, Brita!”

“Brita was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. Great place!”

“Brita exemplifies the Kettering Health Network mission: improving the lives of those in our community with her sincere and caring manner. I had the unfortunate opportunity to need the services of the Kettering Breast Evaluation Center and can attest to the frightening experience this is to those that find themselves in this circumstance. My entire team was amazing and lived out the Kettering Health Network mission, but Brita went above and beyond in my care. Even though I’m a nurse, we are not above fear when it comes to our own health. Brita held my hand during the entire biopsy procedure. She kept talking to me: we talked about work, our kids, our grandkids. She never took her eyes off of me and never let me look or think about what was being done to me. I knew what she was doing; she was distracting me. It worked and I was thankful for it. Even though I knew what she was doing and she probably does this all day every day, I truly felt like I mattered to her and this caring manner of hers goes above and beyond it just being her job. I felt she truly cared about me and my experience. Brita is in the right place. She is not only performing the Kettering Health Network mission, but she is also living out God’s mandate to love and care for others. Being at KBEC is frightening, no matter what you are there for. Her loving care puts a calm in your heart and replaces the fear that we experience.”
