Call Campaign for National Issue Affecting Kettering College

Read Time: 3 mins

Kettering Health Network includes many different facilities. One of those facilities, Kettering College, has a critically important issue that we are hoping you can help advocate for.

Below, you will find a script that we hope you will take just a few minutes to use and call several US Representative offices and encourage them to support a very special issue that directly impacts Kettering College.

The Challenge of Accreditation and CMS Funding

Here are the essentials:

  1. WHEN to call: Wednesday, February 18 and Thursday, February 19 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  2. There are two scripts: one for calling Rep. Mike Turner, thanking him for his support of the legislation, and another for all other Ohio representatives, beginning with Jim Renacci who has similar schools in his district. You don’t have to read the script word-for-word, but it’s provided it if you want to use it.
  3. WHO to call: As many of the numbers below that you are able – and you are encouraged to call multiple times – from a mobile phone, office phone, home phone. THEY COUNT THE NUMBER OF CALLS!
  4. WHO specifically should you talk to? Don’t worry about asking for anyone specific; Just get a live voice on the line. He or she will record your phone call and its purpose.

Many thanks for your help! We greatly appreciate you taking time to make these important calls!

What to Say:

Hello, my name is ______________.  I work for Kettering Health Network in (name of city), Ohio.

I’m calling to ask Representative ______________ to support H.R. 977, the MEND Act, a budget-neutral bill that would protect colleges from devastating cuts in CMS funding.

Many colleges in Ohio currently receive Medicare pass-through funding that helps offset the cost of education delivery in which students receive hands-on medical training at hospitals. If this issue doesn’t get fixed, tuition rates for students would increase significantly and greatly impact our student body and faculty.

This issue affects many schools right here in Ohio, and I hope we can count on the representative’s support of the MEND Act. If you have further questions, I can give you a contact at Kettering College who is working on the issue, PJ Brafford at 937-752-2051. Thank you for letting me share my views, and I hope we can count on your support.

Mike Turner (only)

Michael Turner (R) OH-10 202-225-6465
