Change in Monkeypox Testing Protocol

Read Time: 1 min

In order to simplify the process, Kettering Health will start sending Monkeypox PCR tests to LabCorp instead of the Ohio Department of Health beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 16.

This involves a change in the collection process as described in the attached slides. The Ohio Department of Health will no longer have to approve of testing.

As per the instructions (see link below), no viral cultures should be ordered. If clinically indicated, HSV and VZV PCR tests can be ordered separately.

When tests are ordered, please notify your campus’s infection control team to verify appropriate isolation protocols.

Questions can be addressed to the Molecular lab at Main Campus x55145
