Changes to Elective Procedures

Read Time: 1 min

To Kettering Health Network Proceduralists:

Kettering Health Network always places the health and safety of our patients and staff first. As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, our network must adapt so we can protect our teams and our communities.

As you may know, Governor DeWine declared that all elective procedures should not be performed after the close of business Wednesday, March 18. We will be complying with the order.

State-mandated criteria for the procedures will be:

  • Threat to patient’s life if surgery is not performed
  • Threat of permanent dysfunction of an extremity or organ system
  • Risk of metastasis or progression of staging
  • Risk of rapidly worsening to severe symptoms (time sensitivity)

The network will establish an internal governance structure according to the governor’s directive for the hospitals to use. Procedures include but are not limited to: surgery, cath lab, radiology, GI, pain, etc.

Please contact the Incident Command Center at (937) 531-7907 or (937) 762-5807, or via email to networkincidentcommand@ketteringhealth.org if you have any questions.
