Chidiebere Ibe is making history as we speak. A medical student from Nigeria, Ibe is shifting the narrative on medical illustrations by including images of Black people instead of only white people which is common in academia.
His motivation was his realization that “many conditions and signs look different based on the patient’s skin color and therefore Black skin should be equally represented.” Some of his most shared and popular images include a Black fetus in the womb, and illustrations of eczema on Black skin.
