Christopher Woods Named Kettering Medical Center’s October Employee of the Month

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Christopher Woods, who was named Kettering Medical Center’s October Employee of the Month! Christopher works in Plant Maintenance at the hospital.

The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Christopher was nominated by a fellow employee, and you can read the nomination story below:

“Chris was called in to work at midnight because the tube system was down. After finding the problem (a broken part), he realized we didn’t have any in stock and we would have to wait several days before the part would be onsite to replace. That’s when Chris brought the pieces down to the shop and fabricated his own part to get the tube system up and running again. He waited around for an hour watching, making sure what he did was going to hold up so that when first shift arrived there was no down time for the lab and nursing staff. He finally left around 5 a.m. Chris went above and beyond what was expected of him. It would have been so easy to say, ‘We don’t have the part, it will be down until we can replace it, I’m going back to bed.’ But Chris took it on himself to make it happen behind the scenes with little to no interruption in patient care.”
