Circle of Victory Welcomed Hundreds of Supporters

Read Time: 1 min

Nearly 400 people came together on Sunday, October 12, for the 21st annual Circle of Victory (COV) 5K Walk at Greene Memorial. Walkers came to support cancer patients in Greene County and enjoyed vendor booths, interactive health displays, music, and ceremonies targeted at raising money for the Circle of Victory Fund.

Donna Saraga, event coordinator shared, “About 35 survivors were among the hundreds who came out along with several of our physicians and Kettering Cancer Care staff serving the cancer centers at Soin and Greene Memorial. This year we were excited to add to our opening ceremony a Ribbon of Victory presentation for each survivor for another year of survivorship presented by our physicians. We had vendors and participants who formed a circle of activity around our Circle of Victory, all supporting each other and coming together with our walkers to raise over $35,000.”

Greene Medical Foundation announced its 2014 Circle of Victory ambassador, Angela Flatter, a 1-year cancer survivor from Fairborn. Angela faced lung cancer but has used her circumstance to help rally others who have, or are, fighting their own cancer battles. She will represent COV at other Foundation events throughout the coming months. The “Walk” continued its tradition of forming a literal circle of support around survivors and current patients, including a musical tribute and the release of 700 balloons representing the average number of Greene County residents who are facing cancer on any given day.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us for the 22nd annual Circle of Victory Walk on October 11, 2015 in Beavercreek.
