COVID Testing Order by Infection Preventionist

Read Time: 1 min

To remain compliant with Health and Human Services, we must have proof of COVID infection in each patient’s medical record that is being treated as a COVID patient. We are experiencing patients presenting to the Emergency Departments with history of positive tests and symptoms consistent with infection that require admission. The infection preventionist at each campus reviews these charts for proof of the positive test. There are several instances where the documentation of proof is not found in the EHR.

Effective September 16, 2021, in those patients’ medical records where proof of positive COVID tests are not found, the Campus Infection Preventionist will place an order for a PCR COVID test to be collected and resulted in the medical record.
