Karen Burgbacher assisted an Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” patient since August 2013. Karen helped the patient anticipate what his needs would be, how to adjust his lifestyle for the changes, and plan for the future.
The patient had decided to move to St. Louis to be near family who could provide assistance. On the patient’s last appointment, Karen gave him a gift bag for the ride to St. Louis with treats for him and his dog. Karen also went to the patient’s house and helped him pack for his move, as he is not able to do so himself.
