Registration Open for Free Diabetes Prevention Program

Read Time: 1 min

As a Kettering Health Network employee, if you are at risk for Type 2 diabetes, you can join the Prevent T2: Diabetes Prevention Program free of charge.

The program helps you take charge of your health by meeting with a lifestyle coach and a group of peers and learning about how to implement a diabetes prevention plan in your life. This year-long, proven program from the Centers for Disease Control empowers you to live a healthier life by finding successful ways to increase your physical activity, reduce stress, and promote healthy eating. The program, as part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, is shown to decrease the risk of developing diabetes by more than 50 percent.

During the first four months of the program, you will attend weekly classes. From months five to nine, classes are twice a month. You will finish out the last two months of the program with a monthly class.

In addition to classes and coaching, the program includes activities such as grocery store tours, cooking demonstrations, and tips for being healthy when you go out to eat.

The regular cost of the program is $360, but as an employee, you can join the program for free. For more information, call (937) 558-3988.
