Donna Barker Named OHA Health Care Worker of the Year Nominee

Donna Barker grayDonna Barker was recognized as an Ohio Hospital Association Health Care Worker of the Year nominee at this year’s OHA annual recognition dinner on June 9. Leaders of each Kettering Health Network hospital selected a health care worker who gives back to the community and regularly goes beyond the call of duty.

Serving as clinical coordinator for Fort Hamilton Hospital’s perioperative services, Donna works hard to take care of both patients and their families, making sure they are all included when discussing treatment options. She also strives to further the positive image of Fort Hamilton by making sure patient safety and standard compliance are top priorities. In addition to her work, she is returning to school to for her Bachelor of Science in nursing and hopes to gain Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses certification status so she is able to provide even better care in the future.

Her nomination read:

“Donna is able to give direct patient care while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the art and sciences of nursing and has a strong desire to use this knowledge to improve the delivery of patient care. She demonstrates a commitment to consistent, clinical decision making, and excellence in nursing care. She also serves as an effective advocate for patients and families. Finally, by her own example, she encourages and motivates others and is recognized as a role model for the profession of nursing.”
