Electronic Staff Performance Appraisals Launch March 19

Read Time: 1 min

In 2018, annual staff performance appraisals will be completed in HealthStream. The program, HealthStream Performance Center, is similar to the current paper form, with many of the same key sections like Standards of Behavior and Professional Development.

These electronic performance appraisals will be completed for all non-managerial performance evaluations covering March 1, 2017-February 28, 2018. By moving to an electronic system, the evaluation process will save time, improve reporting capability, and improve the quality and timeliness of feedback between leaders and employees. The online system will also keep a record of performance appraisals, so evaluations from previous years will always be available to leaders and employees via HealthStream.

“Moving from paper to electronic documentation is not new for Kettering Health Network,” says Rachel Drusen, Network HR Director of Legal/Regulatory and Performance Management. “Several years ago, patient charts went electronic as did HR employee files. Electronic performance evaluations are the next step to improving our performance management process.”

Electronic appraisals were piloted at Fort Hamilton Hospital in 2017, and overall feedback was positive:

“Great upgrade! Easy to complete.”

“Truly saved me 30 minutes per employee.”

“No paper–much smoother process.”

The appraisals will be available March 19, and completed evaluations are due June 1. Demonstrations showing the new online process will be available on campuses starting in March. Reference documents and “how-to” videos are also available on the Performance Management intranet page, located under the HR tab.
