Read Time: 1 min

Four Kettering Health employees were recently recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for exemplary service to the nation during the federal medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Stephen Onder, Kettering Health Main Campus
  • Paula Reams, Kettering College
  • Judy Schoun, Kettering Health Greene Memorial
  • Janet White, Kettering Health Main Campus

Each of these employees are members of the Ohio-5 Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT OH-5) based in Dayton. At the National Disaster Medical System Training Summit in Indianapolis, Indiana in September, they each received the COVID-19 Pandemic Civilian Service Medal.

The emergency response personnel who serve on DMAT OH-5 are part of the federal National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) program. The medal was awarded to approximately 1,400 NDMS responders under the authority of the U.S. Surgeon General who can authorize the medal to civilians who deployed for 30 consecutive or 60 cumulative days to provide medical care to state, territory, tribal, and local partners.

On behalf of the entire organization, we would like to congratulate Stephen, Paula, Judy, and Janet and more importantly, thank each of them, for their service to this country and the system during a time of tremendous need.
