Expanding Helping Hands Support for Hospital Departments

Read Time: 1 min

The increase in COVID volumes has created additional staffing challenges in many departments as we entered the new year. Effective January 7at 8 a.m., Helping Hands will be extending support to not only urgent needs on nursing units, but now staffing needs in other hospital departments.

Requesting Managers:

To express an urgent need, complete the Urgent Request Form at the link: https://forms.office.com/r/ZNkzgW0pKu

Note, incoming volunteers should be given non-clinical tasks that require little training upon arrival and never bearing clinical liability.

Current and Former Helping Hands Volunteers:

Thank you for your dedication and service thus far. Per usual, you will be notified when urgent needs are posted on the Helping Hands Teams Page. Communicate on the Teams page if you can fulfill the Helping Hands request.

New Helping Hands Volunteers:

To express a new or renewed interest in Helping Hands, please complete the Volunteer Intake Survey at the link: https://forms.office.com/r/M5TUq81Nvk

Just as a reminder, Helping Hands volunteers will be compensated for their time.

  • If you redeploy from your normal job, there will be no changes in pay. You will receive your regular pay.
  • Exempt staff: If you pick up additional hours outside your normal FTE, you will need to clock in and will get paid straight time for the extra hours in addition to your regular pay.
  • Non-exempt staff: If you pick up additional hours outside your regular responsibilities, you will need to clock in and will get paid your regular pay rate.
