Food Services Team at Kettering Behavioral Earns Constellation Award

Read Time: 2 mins

Congratulations to Jerry Teegarden, Verdun Small, and Tamara Sharp for earning a Constellation Award! All three employees work on on the Food Services team at Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center.

The Constellation Award recognizes strong teams that come together to serve patients and each other. They demonstrate a calling to care, live the network’s values, and show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior. Jerry, Verdun, and Tamara were nominated by a co-worker, and you can read the story below:

“I want to recognize the awesome team of our Food Services Department for their help with our recognition celebration. For achieving a 93% completion rate on our employee engagement survey, we provided our staff with a catered lunch for our first shift and a dinner for second/third shift. Since the dinner was being served at 8 p.m., the Food Service team would not be here. However, they took the time needed to make sure that we had everything ready for set up before they left. Without their prep, we would not have been able to complete the dinner service without a hitch.

I would like to give Jerry a big ‘thank you’ for noticing that we were low on rice and preparing some for us to have in case we ran out (which we did). His anticipation of the need really meant a lot so that we could have enough for everyone.

I would like to recognize Tammy for helping get prepared and showing us the ropes with the stations during lunch. It gave me a better appreciation of what they do day in and day out.

I would like to recognize Verdun for his exceptional help in making sure we had everything we needed before he left.

I would also like to recognize them for all that they do in general. The true compassion and care that they provide our patients each day is second to non. For the patients that see them daily, they are always greeted with a smile. For those patients that are not able to come down to the cafe, they try to accommodate them with a meal that they will enjoy. For these employees, it is not just providing food. It is about providing the patients with a world class services. They are truly the unsung heroes of Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center.”
