A patient had an antibiotic ordered. Sara selected the antibiotic in the Omnicell, went into the patient’s room, and scanned the normal saline bag and then scanned the vial. An alert popped up that this medication was not ordered for the patient. The vial from the antibiotic
bin was actually a different drug. The medication was not administered. Sara went back to obtain the correct drug for the patient.
