Grandview Brings Holiday Spirit to Nursing Homes

Read Time: 1 min

Grandview celebrated the holiday with residents of Grafton Oaks and Forestview Nursing Homes. For over 12 years, Grandview employees and volunteers have provided gifts and good cheer with a holiday party featuring Santa and Christmas Caroling.

Grandview employees adopted residents, and purchased nearly 200 gifts for the residents from their wish lists.

Employees and their families volunteered as carolers; both Girl Scouts and University of Dayton students helped residents open gifts and served dinner.

The Christmas nursing home parties were started by Sherry Merryman, D.O., a neurologist on medical staff at Grandview. She recognized the need for these residents to have interaction especially during the holidays. Many of them are considered indigent and do not have regular visitors or supportive family. These are events the nursing home residents look forward to year after year.
