Money raised for digital mammography equipment at new Comprehensive Breast Center

Thanks to the generosity of employees, physicians, and members of the community, an estimated $155,000 was raised in net proceeds at the Grandview Foundation’s annual Eagle Seekers golf outing on August 18.

More than 188 people golfed, and many enjoyed dinner, presentations, and live and silent auctions. Departments from across the network donated specialty-themed baskets for the auctions.

The evening was topped off, when generous donors Mary and Harold Rieck, matched the evening’s proceeds by writing a $150,000 check. This brought the money raised over $300,000.

Because of the generosity of so many, a Comprehensive Breast Center will be created at Grandview. This includes a new digital mammography unit to replace an aging analog machine; the introduction of new curriculum for our surgery residents – teaching them to perform guided ultrasound biopsies; the development of a breast care path for patients after cancer diagnosis; and community education and outreach to increase screenings and mammograms in the under-served population near Grandview.
