Grandview’s February DAISY Award Winner – Jessica Anderson

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Jessica Anderson, a nurse on 4100 at Grandview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s February’s DAISY Award!

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Jessica’s nomination story below:

I was in a terrible accident that left me with broken bones and a body full of pain one day before my birthday. After spending two days in intensive care, I was transferred to ACU where Jessica Anderson cared for my needs. Her admirable spirit and warm countenance gave me hope to continue living despite my broken spirit. Jessica was sensitive to my needs and displayed the true meaning of what being a nurse represents. As a result of her compassion, I can move forward in my recovery. I ask that you acknowledge Miss Jessica Anderson for the DAISY award for outstanding work performance.
