Grandview’s November DAISY Award Winner – Stephen Keene

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Stephen Keene, a nurse on 4100 at Grandview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s October DAISY Award.

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Stephen’s nomination story below:

“Although Stephen was not my nurse, he was the nurse to my roommate and I was very impressed with his bedside manner. He was polite and helpful to me and unbelievably patient with my roommate. My roommate, to put politely was very confused and in unbearable pain, and even though he seemed to frustrate everyone else, Stephen was always pleasant, personable and kindhearted.  And even though I wasn’t his patient, every time he came in he checked on me, checked on my wife constantly. We were both completely impressed with this young man.”
