Grandview’s September DAISY Award Winner – Ashley Kidney

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Ashley Kidney, RN, a nurse on MICU at Grandview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s September DAISY Award!

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Ashley’s nomination story below:

“I came in for a cardio cath procedure not realizing I had two major blockages. After the procedure and receiving this news, I was scared and my cell battery died. I was unable to reach my family.  Ashley asked at least seven to eight people if they a charger. Although she was unsuccessful, her personality just lit up the room. Ashley’s personality makes you feel warm and comfortable. I’ve received five-star quality care from Ashley. When I needed anything, she went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant. During my stay, I need you to know Ashley makes you feel like a family member is taking care of you. I was feeling down and out and her kind words lifted my spirit and allowed me to keep it together. My overall experience with Ashley was amazing. You should have all nurses shadow Ashley to get a little of what cannot be taught.”
