Hospital Day was first celebrated in 1921 following the Spanish flu pandemic. It was designed as an opportunity to build trust with the community and to show them that hospitals and health systems are more than places where people go to heal. They are part of the community that fosters health and represents hope.
Today, you carry forward this same commitment to bring health, healing, and hope to our communities. This year for Hospital Week, we honor the courage, faith, teamwork, and resilience you have all shown during these current challenges. We will continue to move forward, and we will continue to rise together.
We’ve adapted the celebration this year to be mindful of team members on and off-site and to be respectful of our community through social distancing.

All employees and volunteers will receive a Rising Together lapel pin at your home address over the course of Hospital Week. These pins commemorate your dedication to our mission during and through these challenging times.

During Hospital Week, we are celebrating the compassionate care that you deliver to our community. The Kettering family witnessed this same type of care at the Hinsdale Hospital in the 1950s.
