Congratulations to Jill Tomlin, who was named Sycamore Medical Center’s November Employee of the Month! Jill works on the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at the hospital.
The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Jill was nominated by a fellow employee, and you can read the nomination story below:
“During a busy day, Jill became aware of an extremely agitated visitor to our campus who had been trying to get directions to LifeCare on our third floor. This can be very challenging for visitors, as the east and west sections of LifeCare do not connect, and one must be in the right wing to get to the desired destination. The visitor was so angry he struck the panel of the elevator as it opened to a waiting room. Without hesitation, Jill approached the visitor, asked what she could do to help him, walked with him to the east end elevator, and accompanied him to the east wing of LifeCare on the third floor. By the time they arrived, the visitor was calm and appreciative of Jill’s help during a trying time. I know this because I followed Jill and the visitor down the hallway as support to Jill in what was an unpredictable situation, as the visitor was very agitated. Jill’s actions were exemplary and deserve to be recognized. She represents Sycamore in an outstanding way, providing care and compassion to all she contacts.”
