Judy Brethauer grayJudy Brethauer was recognized as an Ohio Hospital Association Health Care Worker of the Year nominee at this year’s OHA annual recognition dinner on June 9. Leaders of each Kettering Health Network hospital selected a health care worker who gives back to the community and regularly goes beyond the call of duty.

Judy works as a nursing assistant at Sycamore Medical Center, where she considers every patient to be her patient. She is sure to give them her undivided attention and has learned about therapeutic touch as well as Reiki, a form of healing touch, to further her patient care skills. Her kind nature extends beyond the walls of Sycamore and into the community through her volunteering at a local veterinary clinic and her work with The Blue Star Mothers of America.

Her nomination read:

“Judy has been a nursing assistant on 2 East for several years. She is a leader to her peers and other staff by embodying our core values. She comes in every day with a smile on her face, ready to tackle the challenges of the day. She is always positive and caring, a true professional! […] Judy leads the staff on 2 East by demonstrating how to be a great caregiver every day. She is an inspiration to nurses, aides, HUC’s, PT and OT, and even physicians. I have had many staff say ‘Judy is here. It is going to be a great day!’”
