Congratulations to Kaitlyn Clodfelter, who was named Kettering Medical Center’s May Employee of the Month. Kaitlyn works in the Medical Rehab Unit at the hospital.
The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Kaitlyn was nominated by a fellow employee, and you can read the nomination story below:
“As a nurse myself, when I was told I would have a newer nurse caring for me, I shuddered a bit and prematurely judged Kaitlyn’s abilities even prior to meeting her. Well, Kaitlyn blew me away! She demonstrates a level of great competency with a spirit willing to learn and grow in accordance with Kettering culture. She demonstrated her vast knowledge but also asked me questions about my own body and treated me like a whole person. I appreciated Kaitlyn’s willingness to advocate for me as a patient when I needed medication from the pharmacy that was not quickly arriving to the unit. Kaitlyn is an amazing nurse and demonstrates both the art and science that is so easily missed. She has changed my preconceived notions of new nurses I had developed over the last few years.
Kaitlyn is a joy to work with. She is a young nurse with about six to seven months of experience. She is frequently mentioned by patients during leader rounding for kind and compassionate care. She is very flexible with the unit’s scheduling needs and flexes to help ensure the patients receive great care and that her teammates are supported with the correct staffing rations. She asks appropriate questions and is always positive and smiling. I am a better person because Kaitlyn took care of me.”
