American Heart and Stroke Associations Honor Kettering and Sycamore

Kettering Medical Center and Sycamore Medical Center were recognized with GOLD PLUS and SILVER PLUS Status awards, respectively, by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) for the Get With The Guidelines-Stroke (GWTG-S) program. Congratulations to the stroke care teams at Kettering Medical Center and Sycamore Medical Center!

The GWTG-S Status Award recognizes a hospital’s dedication to evidence-based care of patients who have experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attach.

Levels of Achievement

The different levels of achievement reflect the amount of time for which the hospital demonstrates performance of the GWTG-S Achievement Measures:

What does the PLUS Status signify?

PLUS signifies an additional level of recognition, noting a hospital’s dedication to providing above-standard quality care to each patient through additional evidence-based therapies beyond The Join Commission/CMS Core Measures and Get With The Guidelines Performance Measures.

GWTG-S Quality Measures

Hospitals are required to select and submit five or more quality measures for the Stroke PLUS Quality Award:

  • Dysphagia screening
  • Stroke education
  • Rehabilitation considered
  • Time to intravenous thrombolytic therapy
  • LDL documented
  • Intensive satin therapy
  • IV rt-PA 3.5 hours (arrived by 3.5 hours TX by 4.5 hours)
  • NIHSS reported
