Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center Transitioning Services to Dayton Children’s

Read Time: 1 min

Dayton Children’s Hospital has decided to expand its child and adolescent behavioral health services. The hospital has opened a behavioral crisis center and will open a new 24-bed adolescent inpatient unit.

Because of this expansion at Dayton Children’s and in order to best serve all behavioral health patients in the Dayton region, Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center will transition inpatient psychiatric adolescent services to Dayton Children’s Hospital when the unit opens, anticipated in July 2019. This will enable Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center to expand behavioral health adult inpatient, intensive outpatient and outpatient services to meet the ever-increasing demand for those services in our area. Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center will continue to provide outpatient therapy services for children and adolescents.

Once the transition is complete, Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center will be an all-adult inpatient facility. The behavioral intensive care unit will be expanded from 8 to 16 beds. The adult intensive outpatient program and outpatient services will also be expanded.

To ensure uninterrupted behavioral health services for children and adolescents, Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center and Dayton Children’s Hospital are working closely together to develop a smooth transition plan for both staff and patients.
