Kettering Health Hamilton Verified as Level III Trauma Center

Read Time: 1 min

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) has verified Kettering Health Hamilton’s designation as a Level III Trauma Center. This achievement recognizes the facility’s dedication to providing high-quality care for seriously injured patients.

To become a trauma center in Ohio, hospitals undergo a rigorous review by the ACS. The news of KH Hamilton’s verification follows a visit from ACS’s Committee on Trauma in early August as part of their Verification, Review, and Consultation Program.

“I can’t overstate the hard work and long hours invested by our leaders and teams—developing procedures and protocols; hiring and coordinating passionate, qualified care providers; upholding and elevating standards of care—that led to this verification,” said Paul Hoover, president of KH Hamilton.

The verification achievement is given to trauma centers that provide not only the hospital resources necessary for trauma care, but also the entire spectrum of care to address the needs of all injured patients. This spectrum encompasses the prehospital phase through the rehabilitation process.

In early 2020, Kettering Health Hamilton received provisional Level III status from the State of Ohio.

“The ACS’s verification solidifies what our teams have worked tirelessly to uphold: our readiness to provide every patient with precise and decisive trauma care,” continued Hoover.
