Visitor Restrictions to Limit Seasonal Flu

Read Time: 1 min

Update: The Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA) has lifted the Influenza associated visitor restrictions effective February 2, 2015.

Our communities are experiencing a significant increase in flu-like symptoms. In an effort to minimize the spread of respiratory infections to hospital patients and employees, Kettering Health Network will implement visitation restrictions beginning Monday, December 22, based on the recommendations of the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA).

Due to an increase in patients with flu-like symptoms, as well as the local presence of the seasonal flu virus, the region’s hospitals have opted to implement precautionary measures to protect hospital patients and employees.

The following visitation restrictions begin on Monday, December 22, and will remain in place until further notice:

• No visitation by anyone who is ill with any respiratory symptoms including coughing or fever, etc.
• No visitation by anyone under age 14 even if they have received the seasonal flu vaccine.

This policy will be implemented with the utmost sensitivity and respect to patients and their families. Hospital employees should work with patients on a case-by-case basis to ensure that patients receive the support needed to assist them throughout the continuum of care.

Thank you for helping maintain a healthy environment of healing in our facilities. Should you have additional questions or concerns, please contact your facility’s infection prevention team.
