Kettering Mobile Care Exceeds Expectations

Read Time: 1 min

Kettering Mobile Care has experienced significant growth since its launch in October 2016.

When it started, the fleet included 26 transport vehicles, dedicated to transporting patients into and out of hospitals, emergency departments, outpatient facilities, senior living centers, and nursing homes throughout the region. They anticipated 90-100 trips per day and estimated a total of 26,000 trips in the first year.

The need in our communities was so high that the fleet has far exceeded those expectations. As of March 31, Kettering Mobile Care has made a total of 22,600 trips since launching. The fleet averages 116 transports per day, with a record high of 176 in a single day.

Because of this higher need, eight vehicles have been added to the fleet with the potential for more if the demand continues to grow. The eight additional vehicles include six ambulances and two supervisor response vehicles.

“We have been truly blessed to serve our communities in partnership with Kettering Health Network,” said Dereck Pristas, president and chief executive officer of Buckeye Ambulance. “We are excited to continue growing while improving patient experience and exceeding their expectations.”

In addition to adding vehicles, Kettering Mobile Care also expanded its wheelchair service. Wheelchair van service is now available six days per week. With the service now available until 10 p.m., these expanded hours will help meet the need for service later into the evenings.

Stay tuned for more updates as our network continues to grow this partnership with Buckeye Ambulance and improves access to care for those in our communities.
