On a particularly cold and snowy January day, Beth Liles of Congress Family Practice, asked a co-worker to cover the checkout desk for her. The co-worker watched as Beth put on her coat and walked out to a patient that had just checked out. The patient was crying due to the recent loss of her husband. She compassionately held the elderly patient’s arm, assisting her out to her car. When she reached the patient’s car, Beth took a tissue and wiped the patient’s tears. She told the patient, “I have to wipe your tears so you don’t freeze out here.” The patient smiled and laughed, thanking her for putting a smile on her face.
