Mask covers will not be distributed to Kettering Health Network staff and providers at this time.
During the COVID-19 crisis, the network has been blessed with a tremendous outpouring of support from our community, including the donation of handmade mask covers.
While we are very appreciative of the donations, we are refraining from deploying them for employee and provider use at this time. To wear a fabric mask over a surgical mask or N95 actually increases the chance of self-contamination when the wearer removes it to be stored or washed.
However, as the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, fabric masks may be needed to help provide protection to staff and providers. We will continue to welcome the donation of fabric masks from the community and will store them for potential future use.
