Meet Melvin Crawford, Executive Director of Environmental Services at KMC. Mel was born and raised in Des-Moines, Iowa. After graduating high school, he lived in a few different states before arriving in Ohio where he now calls home. He worked for Advent Health as a contract EVS Director for nine years, before moving to Ohio and working with Tri-Health and UC Health for a few years before joining Kettering Health Network as an EVS Network Director in 2018.
As he reflects on past accomplishments during his time at Kettering Health Network, what certainly comes to mind was the opportunity to share his God-given talents and abilities to provide cleaning support solutions to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s truly an honor and a blessing to work alongside so many great leaders in our organization who work tirelessly, keeping our staff and community safe against this invisible enemy,” he shared. Melvin truly believes that the Lord led him to Kettering Health Network. When his wife and him arrived in Ohio, they didn’t know anyone so they decided to Google “Adventist churches in the area”, which led them to Kettering Seventh Day Adventist. When they visited the first time, he realized there was a hospital nearby which sparked his pursuit in employment with the organization.
Melvin feels that he is inspired daily by the opportunity to allow God to work through him, to provide wisdom and guidance needed to lead his department and to partner with other leaders to ensure a safe environment is kept for the staff and community. Melvin leaves us with some advice as he says, “Ask God to reveal His calling in your life and pursue it faithfully. You will never feel the burden of work when you know what your mission in life is. God will provide every resource for your success in completing His will!”
