Congratulations to Michael Karns, who was named Grandview Medical Center’s November Employee of the Month! Michael works in the Emergency Department at the hospital.
The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Michael was nominated by a fellow employee, and you can read the nomination story below:
“There was a critical patient brought into the Emergency Department that came from deplorable conditions. The patient was found to be totally soiled. After the patient was stabilized, Mike began to clean the patient. Mike cleaned this patient from head to toe, even cleaning under the patient’s fingernails. The patient looked like a new person, and it took a lot of time and care for Mike to do this. The dignity and compassion that I witnessed Mike express during this time was undeniably moving. In that moment, I was overwhelmingly proud to work alongside such a compassionate caregiver and human being. Mike is a true value for the Emergency Department and Kettering Health Network.”
