April was National Organ Donation Month, and Sycamore Medical Center was honored to celebrate with heart transplant recipient, Hank Dodson, and his wife, Shirley. Hank came to Sycamore
and shared his story and was kind enough to help us raise the Donate Life flag on our flag pole, which was kept up for the month of April in honor of those who have given and received the gift of
life. It was a precious moment to witness a man who, in his own words, “was given extra time by his hero.” We are dedicated to fostering our partnership with Life Connection of Ohio to assist in the organ donation process so we can continue to meet our mission of improving the lives of those we serve.
Hank received his heart transplant on October 9, 1997—almost 22 years ago! He volunteers at Life Connection of Ohio and shares his story about organ donation and honors his donor who gave him the gift of life.
