Network and MedFlight Add Medical Helicopter for Comprehensive Coverage

Read Time: 1 min

The network is once again increasing access to our award-winning care by partnering with MedFlight to expand critical care transportation by adding a permanent medical helicopter and base at Preble County Medical Center. With this addition, known as MedFlight 8, the network will have three helicopters that routinely serve the network and provide access to our 10 emergency centers.

Thanks to MedFlight helicopters and Kettering Mobile Care, the network is able to provide comprehensive air and ground coverage for residents in the network’s 16-county service area.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with MedFlight to serve the people of southwest Ohio and the surrounding counties,” says Fred Manchur, chief executive officer of Kettering Health Network. “Our partnership with MedFlight and Buckeye Ambulance improves our ability to provide life-saving service for people with life-threatening injuries or illness who need advanced care when minutes matter.”

The network plans to construct a base at Preble County Medical Center, which will include a hangar for the helicopter and crew living quarters. The base will be staffed by pilots, mechanics, and critical care nurses and paramedics. As the base is being constructed, a helicopter will be stationed at Preble County Medical Center during the day within the next 90 days.
