Effective September 30, 2019, all users who swipe their badge for payment at a Kettering Health Network cafeteria will receive a 15% discount.
Why is it changing?
IRS regulations have prompted a change in the current employee cafeteria discount. The current discount is not compliant and may result in additional taxation on all individuals who receive the discount. Rather than create an additional tax for employees, the network is adapting to a discount that is in accordance with IRS regulations.
What is the impact for cafeteria users?
The 15% discount is commonly seen at other health systems both regionally and nationally. Based upon the last 12 months of usage, cafeteria users will spend (on average) $1.46 more per week. Cafeteria foods pricing will be held without any increases for the next 12 months.
