New Home for EMS Squads at Southview

Read Time: 1 min

Southview Hospital Emergency Department celebrated the opening of an expanded EMS squad room featuring computer work stations, office space, private bathroom, shower, storage, and lounge area with 42” TV. EMS personnel also have a large storage and cleaning area for back boards.  A kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave is available for their convenience.

Construction started in July 2013, and kicked off with a “whack a wall” event enjoyed by staff and EMS personnel. The space and design investment was $200,000. The new squad room increased in size from approximately 128 to 684 square feet.

“We now have space for multiple squads to simultaneously be present, without impacting their ability to perform their work,” says Russ Wetherell, administrator for Southview Hospital.

Based on the reaction of the valued EMS attendees, the new squad room is a tremendous success, and truly appreciated by all.
