A patient’s father had been in the hospital for three months. To prepare for the patient’s discharge, the family needed to pick up equipment from the VA. While at the VA they discovered they did not have a transfer board. The transfer board prevented the patient from being released and could possibly have to stay in the rehab facility one to two weeks longer.
Captain Mike Emmons located a transfer board from the nursing supervisor. The family was able to borrow it until the VA could provide them with one.
The patient’s dad was very impressed and thankful for the way Captain Mike Emmons went above and beyond his duties to help a patient.
