Read Time: 2 mins

Congratulations to Olivia Benton, who was named Kettering Medical Center’s August Employee of the Month. Olivia works in Short Stay Cardiac at the hospital.

The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Olivia was nominated by a patient’s family member, and you can read the nomination story below:

“My husband came to the hospital to explore if he was able to do the TAVR procedure through his groin. Olivia was his nurse. Now my husband is a joke. When he is nervous or uptight, he jokes around to the point he gets on your nerves. Not only did Olivia put up with his jokes, but she was able to calm him down and make him feel at ease. Olivia was so polite and always had a beautiful smile on. She reassured him that he was going to be OK. Her personality also had him at ease. When we were ready to leave, Olivia was showing e what to watch for, which would normally be embarrassing for my husband. Olivia was able to do it and not embarrass him. She was amazing.

Olivia makes people feel welcomed. She reassures them that they are in good hands and things will be all right. She is confident in her work, and even remembered me when we ewre there to have his TAVR surgery. My husband stated that Olivia was the first person to make him feel completely relaxed. He wished he could have her as his nurse anytime he was in the hospital.”
