Omicron/ Bivalent COVID Vaccines

Read Time: 1 min

We are writing with a minor revision to our earlier communication about the recently authorized, updated COVID-19 boosters. These boosters have been developed to provide an immune response that is broadly protective against COVID-19 and more protective against COVID-19 caused by the omicron variant.  We are not requiring these boosters; however we do encourage eligible individuals to consider getting them.

While you may want to consult with your personal healthcare provider about these boosters, including when is the right time to get one, the FDA has authorized eligible individuals to get them if it has been at least 2 months following a previous primary or booster vaccination. Our prior communication noted a 4 or 5 month waiting period, depending on an individual’s age. While there may be different factors and recommendations for determining how long eligible individuals should wait to get an updated booster, we wanted to clarify the FDA’s position.
