Kettering Medical Center recently received the distinction of International Center of Excellence by Elekta, the producer of cutting-edge cancer treatment technologies that include the Gamma Knife® Perfexion™ brain treatment system and Versa HD™ radiation therapy.

Elekta developed the Center of Excellence Program to acknowledge facilities that provide cancer and brain disorder patients with extraordinary treatment, and serve as hubs for high-quality research, education, and outreach programs.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious designation,” says Douglas Einstein, MD, PhD, medical director and chairman of Radiation Oncology at Kettering Health Network. “To be named a Center of Excellence means that we are recognized for our cancer treatment expertise, techniques, and technology.”

The Kettering Health Network cancer program, accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, also received the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA), which is only received by cancer programs that exceed the standards of care in all possible categories. Only 74 healthcare organizations nationwide get this recognition and of them, only five are in the state of Ohio. Kettering Health Network is the only network of hospitals in the Dayton area to receive this distinction.

With the effort and collaboration of physicians and staff across the network, combined with exceptional technology, the team sets standards of quality and service that exceed national standards for cancer care.
