Megan Albrecht and Brittany Lohmeyer – Kettering Health Main Campus
“These wonderful NICU employees have both lived the NICU journey as parents. They have both suffered through the fear of losing their child during a long NICU stay. Because of their journeys, they were moved to support other NICU parents that they witness struggling daily to deal with the pre-term birth of their children. These two employees, along with another former NICU mother, have formed the ‘Karing for You’ support group.
This nonprofit group strives to support families throughout their NICU journey by providing resources, care packages, and support services. They work to bring hope to parents facing the challenges of NICU life. They operate a Facebook NICU page and a closed Facebook NICU group. They hold monthly meetings, celebrate holidays, and support the NICU nurses by providing goodie bags and thank you posters.
These ladies saw a vital need to support our NICU parents and out of the compassion of their hearts spend countless hours and dollars serving others. They are truly living the Kettering Health mission. Their efforts were recognized by the community when they were featured in the Southwest Ohio Parent weekly e-newsletter in February 2022. This group provides a positive reflection of the exceptional care we provide here in the Kettering Health NICU–care that goes beyond just serving the infant but includes supporting the family.”
