Personal PPE for All Personnel

Read Time: 1 min

In response to the request from our health care providers to bring in personal PPE, the following process is being implemented to ensure your safety and the safety of our patients.

Non-Kettering Health Network-provided PPE must be an N95- or NIOSH-approved product to be used for patient care. If the mask does not have “N95” or “NIOSH approved” clearly marked on the individual mask, you will need to bring in the packaging (daily) for validation of approved criteria.

Clinical staff

  1. Personal PPE must be reviewed by the department leader prior to use.
  2. Department leader must ensure that PPE meets the criteria of N95- or NIOSH-approved by validating the packaging and or the clearly marked mask.
  3. Once criteria verified, the mask is to be marked with the date in the right upper corner of the mask.

Provider (Physician, APRN, PA)

  1. Personal PPE must be reviewed by the department leader of the first clinical unit during patient care rounds.
  2. Department leader must ensure that PPE meets the criteria of N95- or NIOSH-approved by validating the packaging and or the clearly marked mask.
  3. Once criteria verified, the mask is to be marked with the date in the right upper corner of the mask.

This process will be performed daily.

All personnel (including physicians) utilizing personal PPE are doing so at their own risk.

If the mask does not meet the requirements, Kettering Health Network-approved PPE will be issued.

Please be aware that there is counterfeit PPE being sold that may not protect you or our patients.
