Pledge to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

Read Time: 2 mins

NASP-1Turkey, cornbread dressing, macaroni and cheese, candied sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, pumpkin pies, gingerbread, and eggnog. Is your mouth watering yet?

Holidays are a time for family and friends we have not seen in a while, attending holiday dinners, and office parties. With these joys come holiday shopping, baking, cooking, and a lot of food. It’s easy to over indulge.

From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day may seem short, but most people gain 1-2 pounds during the holidays. That’s 10-20 pounds in 10 years.

Dayton and Montgomery County Public Health is sponsoring a friendly Not a Single Pound challenge to encourage people to avoid the holiday weight bulge. Kettering Health Network has accepted the challenge and added a contest for our employees.

What do you need to do?

  • Weigh in November 17-21 (NOW CLOSED)
  • Maintain your weight over the holiday season
  • Weigh out January 12-16

Who’s eligible?
All Kettering Health Network employees, volunteers, and physicians over 18 years old are eligible.

PrizesBe Well FitBit

  • Grand Prize – One year’s membership at a gym for one who maintains their weight
  • Fitbit for eight winners who maintain their weight

Pledge not to gain a single pound over the holiday season. Join the challenge and choose to be healthier!
