Raina Simon is an RN at Kettering Heath Hamilton, working on the Orthopedic Med/Surg unit. Originally from Miami, Florida, Raina first joined Kettering Health during a nursing externship in 2019, where she trained under the guidance of some incredible preceptors.

“The staff I had the pleasure of working with really drew me in, and gave me a reason to consider leaving the Sunshine State. I also desired to be in a slower paced and smaller city, and the Dayton area gave me just that.”

Since joining the staff at Hamilton, Raina has completed her preceptor certification, and is hoping to make the impact on her patients and co-workers the way her preceptors made a difference for her.

“Every day my inspiration comes from my passion to improve the lives of those I come in contact with and knowing that this job is creating the foundation for my career in nursing here at Kettering and beyond.”

Her advice to others? Keep an open mind, always work to be your best, and remember your “why?” “As for advice, the first thing that comes to mind is stay open—every day is an opportunity to market yourself, grow, and learn. Seek out mentorship, always put your best foot forward, and remember your ‘why.’ To be your best you must give your body the best; time with God, rest, exercise, and healthy foods.”
