Revised: Isolation Gown Conservation Strategy

Read Time: 1 min

In an effort to conserve isolation gown supplies, Kettering Health Network Infection Prevention and Control is relaxing the mandated use of gowns for certain forms of isolation.

Gowns will not be required for patients in Contact Isolation for VRE or MRSA (except for MRSA with drainage noted – where gown should still be worn). Gloves and proper hand hygiene remain mandatory.

Gowns will still be used for patients on isolation precautions for ESBLs, CRE, and CDIFF.

This policy change ONLY applies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
