Congratulations to Shannon Spahr, who was named Kettering Physician Network’s February Employee of the Month! Shannon works at Kettering Physician Network Primary Care – Franklin.
The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Shannon was nominated by a fellow employee, and you can read the nomination story below:
“One of our patients phoned in today, stating that she wanted to let me know how much one of our team members had affected her life in a positive way. The patient stated that she has been going through some very difficult times. She phoned into the office recently, feeling desperate, nervous, like she was hanging onto the end of a rope about to lose her grasp. She was just ready to give up. The patient stated that Shannon went over and above anything anyone in her life has done for her. She stated that Shannon took the time to listen to every single word she had to say, never judged her, and was very compassionate, understanding, supportive, and uplifting. Shannon offered her encouragement and was a saving grace. After speaking with Shannon that day, the patient felt like things could and would turn around for her, and she knew just where a lifeline was if she needed it. The patient repeatedly stated that Shannon had a key part in saving her, that she will never forget what Shannon said, did, and the time that she took. This example is such a reminder that the conversations we have every day with patients can make such a big impact. In some cases, we make a lifesaving impact just by channeling positive energy, nurturing tone, offering encouraging words, removing judgement, and giving consideration and understanding. Shannon has a called to care heart and we are thankful to have her serving our patients at Franklin.”
